I used to get Botox

I used to get Botox

I had a conversation recently that didn’t go as expected.

A woman came to my booth. She was beautiful, confident, designer clothes, and had THE career. She’s the kind of person most people would look at and think, “Wow…she has it all figured out.”

We started talking, and somehow the conversation turned to validation.

So I shared something personal, and told her “I used to get Botox.”

I said, “I realized, I did it because it made me feel more accepted and more “enough” for the people around me. I realized I didn’t do it for me, I did it for them.”

She looked at me and said, “Well…I get Botox.”

Then I said something I’ve come to believe deeply:

“If that comes from a place of self-love, that’s beautiful. But if it’s coming from a place of not feeling good enough…there’s another way.”

She paused, stared at me, then walked away. I could feel I hit a nerve.

That moment wasn’t really about her, it was about a version of me who believed I had to fix things about myself in order to feel worthy.

Maybe you’ve felt that too. Not necessarily with how you look…but in how you show up: the pressure to say the right thing or be perceived a certain way.

Somewhere along the line, you learned that being yourself wasn’t quite enough.

The truth is… THAT’S A LIE. That belief is exhausting. No matter how much you improve, adjust, or perform, you still feel like you’re “chasing the dragon.”
