I’m inspired to share something different today.
After working with ultra-high net-worth individuals, I noticed something.
What’s kept many of these people safe is no longer doing that. But they think it is.
The armour’s cracked, leading them to be completely burnt out.
When you operate at a high level, you’re constantly aware:
- How you’re perceived,
- What you say and don’t,
- How you enter a room,
- And how you leave it.
Let’s name what it is: emotional control.
It’s a strategy, but…
It still ensures that when you try to play your music, the sound comes out… muted.
You think the armour is the victory.
You think: “I survived. I prevailed. I am protected.”
Wouldn’t you rather feel fully alive at the same time?
I work with leaders who’ve spent many years building an impenetrable reputation.
After we talk they realize:
“I don’t have anything left to prove… so why do I still feel on edge?”
That’s their armour.
I ask them, “If we removed it for one hour and your reputation or performance didn’t matter, who’d you be?”
You do not need to dismantle the armour overnight. But this weekend, simply notice where it is still bolted on.
- The chest? (You haven’t taken a deep breath in years.)
- The throat? (Words get stuck there.)
- The hands? (When did you last touch something just to feel it, not to fix it?)
So, before you close this email, remove one physical item that represents your armour:
A watch that = status.
A jacket that = authority.
A ring that = belonging.
Place it on the table beside you.
Breathe.
Notice: Are you lighter? Or do you already want to put it back on?
That restlessness is your addiction to protection.
And like all addictions, the first step is not cold turkey.
Just witness it.
Many thinking coaching means you need fixing.
Not true. This work is about helping you turn off the constant internal “on” switch.
I have a specific container for these leaders. Over 12 months, we work on:
- Reducing constant internal bracing
- Rebuilding trust in safe relationships
- Separating who you are from what you built
- Leading from presence instead of defense
Think of it as a nervous-system-level recalibration for leaders who are done living in survival mode.

I will write you back personally.
