Eeyore, Tigger, or Owl: What Winnie the Pooh Teaches Us About Your Nervous System

When you woke up this morning, which Winnie the Pooh character were you?

Were you Eeyore?

Foggy. Heavy. Going through the motions. That flat, gray feeling where nothing sounds good and nothing feels worth starting.

Were you Rabbit?

Bouncing. Reactive. Running from task to task with that anxious buzz that feels like energy but leaves you empty by noon.

Or were you Owl?

Calm. Clear. Present.

The version of you that makes good decisions, connects deeply, creates freely, and moves through hard things without losing yourself.

Here's what I learned last Friday that I used on Monday morning when a family member called.

You've probably spent most of your life swinging between Eeyore and Rabbit.

You crash into flatness. You jolt into anxiety. You crash again.

And you call it personality. Or mood. Or just how you are.

But that’s not true.

↳ It's your nervous system running a program it learned a long time ago to keep you safe. It's doing that job perfectly. The program is unbelievably outdated.

Stephen Porges, one of the world's leading neuroscientists, developed what's called Polyvagal Theory. It changes everything about how we understand why we feel the way we feel.

Here's the simple version.

Your nervous system has three branches. Not two, like we were taught.

Dorsal > that's Eeyore. Shutdown. Frozen. Your nervous system decided the threat was too big to fight or flee, so it went still instead.

Sympathetic > that's Rabbit. Fight or flight. Your nervous system scanning for danger even when the room is safe.

Ventral > that's Owl. Safe. Connected. Creative. Regulated. This is where healing happens. Where your Mission moves. Where your best decisions get made.

For you, this means everything.

Porges says:

Co-regulation is a biological imperative. Not a luxury.

Co-regulation means your nervous system calms down by being near other calm nervous systems. Your body settles by being near settled bodies.

In other words, your nervous system was never designed to regulate itself alone.

Think about how many times you've tried to calm yourself down in isolation.

Deep breaths alone in the bathroom. Affirmations in the mirror. Meditating in a quiet room.

It helps. A little. Temporarily.

But then life happens, and you're back in Eeyore or Rabbit territory within the hour.

Why?

Your Vagus Nerve responds to other people. To their voice. Their presence. Their regulated energy. It's not a metaphor. It's not woo-woo. It's biology.

What it costs you to live in Eeyore or Rabbit without the right room to come home to. In your business, your creativity, your relationships, your body is more than most people want to name.

You make fear-based decisions. You give off Crap Magnet energy…and therefore attract crap. You shrink when you're meant to shine.

You weren't built to regulate alone.

None of this is your fault. But all of it can change.

Last Friday and Saturday, I spent eight hours in training with one of my mentors; a nervous system expert and certified Nervous System Regulation Practitioner & teacher.

By Monday morning, a family member called.

Not to apologize. To keep going. To tell me again that I caused my mother's Alzheimer's by getting her vaccinated. To project their unprocessed rage onto me one more time.

The old Elvira? She would have been knocked flat. Replaying the conversation for days. Crying to her husband. Unable to work.

This Elvira stayed in her body.

I responded succinctly, without emotion, set my boundary, and let it go.

The same day I went to my mother's appointment. Sat with her. She got teary at the end and said: "Elvira, you're so patient with me. You just sit with me."

I said: "Mom, it's an honour."

I wasn’t affected by the phone call I had earlier. That’s what I mean by a regulated nervous system.

I believe it was the 10-minute morning somatic practice I'd been doing for just a few days.

More importantly, I'm staying calmer than I've ever been through one of the hardest seasons of my life.

What’s my Miracle Mix right now?

Shaking medicine - your body's natural way of releasing stored tension. The way animals do after a threat passes. Safe. Ancient. Powerful.

Sound healing - vibration that activates the Vagus Nerve directly.

Goddess Dance - movement that brings me back into my femininity and out of my head.

A cool Spotify 80s playlist I created, to support my new morning ritual makes me stay connected to JOY…my most powerful medicine ☆

(Yes, I'm an 80s girl and proud of it.)

Ten minutes. Every morning. Whatever your Miracle Mix looks like, what gets you to Owl is the right practice for you ♡

What’s the takeaway here?

There is no single right way to regulate your nervous system.

Yoga. Tapping. Breathwork. Somatic practices. Sound healing. Shaking medicine. Journaling. Cold plunging. Dancing. Coaching. Community.

Any road that gets you to Ventral (Owl) - is YOUR road.

There’s no right answer here. The question is: what's in your Miracle Mix?

One of those roads has to include other people.

Because co-regulation is a biological imperative. Not a luxury. A settled body helps other bodies settle.

Which means the community you surround yourself with isn't nice to have. It's neurologically necessary. It's the difference between an Eeyore trying to meditate alone in a quiet room and an Owl who has other Owls to come home to.

That room changes everything.

That's exactly what the Miracle Magnet Transformation is designed to be.

It’s basically a room full of Owls. Not just coaching or frameworks.

A small, intimate six-month container - limited to 5 participants - where co-regulation isn't a concept you read about. It's what happens when you show up.

Where a regulated facilitator and a regulated community help your nervous system remember what safe actually feels like.

Where you build your Miracle Mix. Do the Inner Work. Become the Owl version of yourself in your life.

Even if you've tried programs before and left feeling exactly the same.

Even if 6 months feels too long.

Even if you're not sure the Owl version of you still exists.

They do. You just have been waiting for the right room.
