So here's my vulnerable truth. I’ve been on both sides of the ‘Mean Girl Wound’. This is one of ‘The Women Wounds’ I named last year.
And for a long time, I only admitted to one of those sides as I had shame around the other.
The side I talked about first:
For two solid years as a former pro CFL cheerleader for the Toronto Argonauts, I was frozen out. Excluded, talked about behind my back. The ring leader had celebrity parties which I used to attend, until I was no longer invited.
One by one, my so-called ‘friends’ drifted toward her world because she had more power, more access, more shine.
I went to war. I tried to get people on my side. I fought for my place. I lost though, and felt deep shame.
That kind of mean-girling doesn't just hurt your feelings. It rewires something in you, teaching you that women aren't safe, that sisterhood isn’t real, and you have to fight for your place in every room.
In my 20 year Big Pharma career I wasn’t intentionally cruel. I know now it was unhealed wounds driven by survival mode in a patriarchal culture that deliberately pitted women against each other. Who gets the sales? Who earns the trip with the VP? Who wins?
The competition was fierce, I positioned myself and did what I had to do to stay on top.
It wasn't until my mental breakdown & Spiritual Breakthrough, where I received the ‘Miracle Magnet Method’, that I practiced this unique Inner Work that I can look back and see it clearly.
The Mean Girl isn't a monster. She's just a woman who never felt safe enough to put down her armour.
Here's the framework that changed everything for me:
There are three ways women show up in relation to each other:
1️⃣ Power Over: The Mean Girl. Comparing, controlling, competing, tearing down. It feels like strength but it's fear wearing a mask.
2️⃣ Power Under: The Victim. Shrinking, people-pleasing, making herself small so others feel big. That's fear too, just quieter.
3️⃣ Power With: The Healing Woman. Collaborating. Co-creating. Locking arms. This is where the MAGIC lives.
Inner Work isn't about becoming perfect. It's about moving from Power Over or Power Under into Power With.
When women do that everything changes. Their relationships. Their families. Their businesses.
The Dalai Lama once said: "The world will be saved by the Western woman."
I believe him, but only when we choose to live consciously. Ie: unlearn old ways & learn new better ones.
Which is exactly why I'm so excited about what's coming.
