Today’s FAB FRIDAY is for the ones who know they’re talented…
but quietly wonder why things suddenly feel harder than they should.
The problem isn’t talent or experience.
It’s the gradual habit of dialling yourself down to fit a smaller box.
I recently asked one of my wildly talented, super-funny photographer and videographer clients a few reflection questions.
For context, this isn’t someone “starting out.”
This is Tony Lombardo:
✨ The winner of THREE Canadian Comedy Awards
✨ A seasoned creative
✨ Someone who has been doing exceptional work for decades
And yet… even the most accomplished creatives can lose sight of their own level.
Before we worked together, Tony felt like he was hitting a brick wall.
Jobs weren’t landing. (Not even just bigger jobs, but any job).
Lowering his rates didn’t help.
Clients were “falling off the earth” as Tony put it.
That moment when effort increases but momentum disappears, is where self-doubt quietly creeps in.
And then, in one simple but potent moment, I looked at him and said:
“You need to be shooting celebrities.”
The suggestion landed because it matched the level of work he had already been doing for years. I simply helped him name what he wanted.
Within one week, Tony booked an Uber Eats campaign shooting William Nylander, right winger for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
And here’s the part that matters most. He told me this:
“The shoot was very ‘easy’ for me because it was EXACTLY the type of shoot I love doing and have been doing for decades. It was now that I had aligned with myself, I had attracted it.”
Tony shared that the biggest shift wasn’t just mindset.
It was being truly seen and then being given clear, actionable steps to embody that truth.
He was given simple, specific actions that immediately reorganized how he felt, how he showed up, and how his work was positioned.
